What are the competency levels

LEVEL I: Basic Competency

Purpose: Fundamental skills and knowledge to perform Electrical Safety Testing (EST) on medical equipment.

Skills Developed:

  1. Conduct Electrical Safety Tests

    • Execute safety testing procedures using appropriate test equipment.

    • Assess electrical performance of medical devices.

  2. Recognise Basic Safety Indicators

    • Identify basic pass/fail criteria from test results.

    • Ensure minimum safety standards are met.

LEVEL II: Advanced Competency

Purpose: Builds on Level I; includes advanced interpretation and analytical skills.

Skills Developed:
1. Perform and Verify EST

    • Evaluate reliability of tests.
    • Ensure correct procedure execution.

2. Interpret Test Results

    • Analyze and interpret EST data.
    • Make safety judgments and identify potential issues.

3. Understand Measurement Diagrams

      • Read and interpret EST-related diagrams.

      • Understand component interaction from an electrical safety standpoint.

  • Knowledge of EST Principles

    • Deep theoretical understanding of EST.

    • Comprehend reasons and impact of specific tests.
